Parent Education- Dr. Denise Pope on Homework

What amount of homework is appropriate for elementary school students? Do students have too much homework or not enough? What distinguishes homework that engages students in learning from busywork? When and to what extent should parents be involved in their students homework?
Dr. Denise Clark Pope, a senior lecturer ar the Stanford University School of Education and author of the award-winning book Doing School: How We Are Creating a Generation of Stressed Out, Materialistic, and Miseducated Students, will share her insights on homework. Dr. Pope is a three-time recipient of the Stanford University School of Education Outstanding Teacher and Mentor Award. She lectures nationally on parenting techniques and pedagogical strategies to increase student health, engagement with learning and integrity. Dr. Pope has been featured on CNN, World News Tonight, the Today Show, NPR, and several other television and radio programs. The event is free. Elementary parents and guardians are encouraged to attend.
